And channels open almost instantly with the Matrix R, oh and it seems to load channels faster. Its getting better all the time. The latest firmware is version 1.75, which corrects the support of some channels. This firmware has to be copied to the receiver by means of a cable.
Currently, anyone who has this model of SL65 with firmware version 1.75 or newer is able to watch besides the free-to-air, just a few pay channels that still use older encoding schemes. It has the following other differences from the 2005 model: • The 2005 model has screws at the side of the box; the 2006 model does not. • The 2005 model is programmed through a 20 pin interface; the 2006 model is programmed through a 6-pin interface. 2007 model Currently there are 7 models.

So basically the A1 Processor is not up to the task of carrying out the necessary algorithms to decrypt today's tighter encryptions.

Somebody sent me the instruction booklet PDF last week (March 23rd) which I downloaded. Since it was a large attachment and my mailbox was maxed out, I decided to delete it (and a few other large messages) and then send a thank you note. Anybody with half a brain (i.e. Not me!) will be wondering exactly how I planned to send a thank you once I'd deleted the email, where would I get the reply to address from? Whoever you are, THANK YOU! I have printed the user guide in case I need to refer to it, but I didn't do a bad job of figuring out this little receiver.

Switching on When you switch the receiver on, the front panel display says ' On', then ' Strt'. After a boot time of about four seconds, we flick to the first channel. The receiver appears to do this rebooting (only a shorter version) when you come out of standby, it appears to power down the reception and video circuitry (in order to save power). Due to the design and operation of the Digibox (i.e. Keeping the EPG up to date), the Digibox really only turns off the picture when you switch it to standby - that's why it always runs hot. Not that running hot is an issue with the SL65!
